From Bern they walk and hitchhike via Austria to Ljubljana , where Obrist finally opens a shop for “unusual orders”. After some love affairs and a conceived child, Obrist takes the train back to Bern. MC der Dachs has the function of asking Colonel philosophical questions or making him think about himself.
