The moon from Wanne-Eickel is a German hit by the band Friedel Hensch und die Cyprys , which was first published in 1962.

The song is a German version of the French tango Un clair de lune à Maubeuge by Pierre Perrin. The German text is from Ernst Bader . The name of the city was chosen because Friedel Hensch and the Cyprys were in Wanne-Eickel for an autograph session . Initially received rather negatively by the city leaders, they soon recognized the promotional potential of the song. The original record appeared with the B-side. What is that man doing on the porch? at Polydor . In the early 1970s, the "moon song" was re-released along with poems by Fred Endrikat (voiced by Ernst Schröder ).

There is also a liqueur from the Eicker & Callen distillery called Der Mond von Wanne-Eickel .
