IC 904 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0-a in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 299 million light years from the Milky Way and about 100,000 light years across .
The galaxies NGC 5257 , NGC 5258 , IC 903 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on June 8, 1893 .
