IC 896 is an elliptical galaxy of Hubble type E3 in the constellation Virgo to the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 373 million light years from the Milky Way and about 65,000 light years across.
In the same area of ​​the sky is u. a. the galaxy NGC 5213 .

The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on July 26, 1892 .
