IC 894 is a spiral galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type Sbc in the constellation Coma Berenices in the northern sky . It is an estimated 291 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 95,000 light years in diameter.

In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 5217 , NGC 5172 , NGC 5180 , IC 897 .

The object was discovered on June 23, 1892 by the French astronomer Stéphane Javelle .
