IC 892 is a lens-shaped galaxy of the Hubble type S0 with an active galaxy core in the constellation Virgo north of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 277 million light years from the Milky Way and about 120,000 light years in diameter.

In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 5192 , NGC 5197 , NGC 5202 , IC 893 .

The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on July 4, 1893 .
