NGC 5180 is a 13.0 mag bright lens-shaped galaxy of the Hubble-type S0 in the constellation Haar der Berenike in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 300 million light years from the Milky Way and about 155,000 light years across.
In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 5151 , NGC 5172 , IC 894 .

The object was discovered on March 21, 1784 by Wilhelm Herschel with an 18.7-inch reflector telescope, who described it as "three small stars with suspected nebulosity, 240 power left some doubt".
