NGC 5205 is a 12.4 mag bright spiral galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type Sb in the constellation Great Bear. It is estimated to be 84 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 75,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 5216 and NGC 5218 .
The object was discovered by Lewis A. Swift on May 18, 1887 .
