NGC 5228 is a 13.4 likes bright lenticular radio galaxy from the Hubble type e-S0 in the constellation of hunting dogs . It is estimated to be 347 million light years from the Milky Way and about 100,000 light years in diameter.
The object was discovered on May 13, 1793 by Wilhelm Herschel with an 18.7-inch reflector telescope, which she labeled “Two. Both vF, vS. A star between them about half way ”. The other named object is NGC 5223 .
