NGC 5207 is a 13.6 likes bright barred spiral galaxy of Hubble type SBb in the constellation Virgo to the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 341 million light years from the Milky Way and about 175,000 light years across .
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 5185 , NGC 5221 , NGC 5222 , NGC 5226 .
The object was discovered on March 19, 1787 by Wilhelm Herschel with an 18.7-inch reflector telescope, who described it as “vF, S, lE, just sf a star”.
