NGC 5229 is a 13.7 mag bright bar-spiral-shaped Low Surface Brightness Galaxy of the Hubble-type SBcd in the constellation Hounds and about 20 million light-years from the Milky Way.
It was discovered by Lewis A. Swift on January 1, 1886 .
