NGC 5206 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type SB0 in the constellation Centaurus in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 18 million light years from the Milky Way and about 20,000 light years across. Together with seven other galaxies, it forms the NGC 5128 group ( LGG 344 ).

The object was discovered by John Herschel on July 2, 1834 .
