NGC 5186 is a 14.8 mag bright spiral galaxy of the Hubble type Sb in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic. It is estimated to be 598 million light years from the Milky Way and about 70,000 light years in diameter .

In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 5171 , NGC 5176 , NGC 5177 , NGC 5179 .

The object was discovered by Ernst Hartwig on June 29, 1883 .
