NGC 5208 is a 13.9 mag bright lens-shaped galaxy of the Hubble-type S0 with an active galaxy core in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 301 million light years from the Milky Way and about 155,000 light years across. Presumably it forms a gravitationally bound galaxy trio together with PGC 47640 and ECO 12362 . In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 5209 , NGC 5210 , NGC 5212 , NGC 5239 .

The object was discovered on March 19, 1787 by Wilhelm Herschel with an 18.7-inch reflector telescope, which she labeled “Two. Both vF and vS ”described. The other object mentioned is NGC 5209 .
