NGC 5246 is a 13.9 likes bright barred spiral galaxy of Hubble type SBb in the constellation of the Virgin on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 308 million light years from the Milky Way and about 90,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of ​​the sky is u. a. the galaxy NGC 5213 , NGC 5245 , NGC 5252 .

The Type Ia supernova SN 2004bk was observed here.

The object was discovered by Albert Marth on April 30, 1864 .
