NGC 5269 is an open star cluster (type definition "OCL") in the constellation Centaur . It was discovered on April 24, 1835 by John Herschel with an 18-inch reflector telescope, which, on two observations, showed “cluster class VII. Poor, large, loose irregular figure; fills field; stars 12th mag. ”and“ fine rich milky way group, or rather outlying cluster of a much finer cluster following it ”.
