NGC 5151 is a lenticular galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type S0-a? pec in the constellation Haar der Berenike in the northern sky . It is around 365 million light years away from the Milky Way , the central area has a diameter of around 85,000 light years , while its outer area extends over more than 200,000 light years . 
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 5158 , NGC 5172 , NGC 5180 .
The object was discovered by John Herschel on May 8, 1826 .
