NGC 5150 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble-type SBbc in the constellation Water Snake south of the ecliptic . It is an estimated 167 million light years from the Milky Way and about 65,000 light years in diameter. Together with the galaxy pair NGC 5152 / NGC 5153, it probably forms a small group of galaxies .
In the same area of the sky there are still u. a. the galaxies NGC 5135 , IC 4248 , IC 4251 , IC 4259 .
The object was discovered by John Herschel on May 5, 1834 .
