NGC 5135 is a bar-spiral galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type SBab in the constellation Hydra south of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 177 million light years from the Milky Way and about 95,000 light years in diameter.
The galaxies NGC 5124 , NGC 5126 , NGC 5150 , IC 4248 are in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered on May 8, 1834 by the astronomer John Herschel using an 18.7 inch reflector telescope.
