NGC 5153 is an elliptical galaxy of the Hubble-type E1 pec in the constellation Water Snake south of the ecliptic . It is around 187 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 85,000 light years . The galaxy interacts with NGC 5152 and is likely to form a small group with NGC 5150 .
The object was discovered on May 8, 1834 by John Herschel .
