The Niederlausitzer is a private transport company, both in the public transport system operates (public transport) as well as in the tourism industry. In addition to charter trips and travel offers, the company also provides individual regional bus routes.

history

The company was founded in 1948 as a trucking company, initially only with a carbon Generator - Truck , in 1950 the company bought another eight-tonne trucks added. Due to the high demand for means of transport in the region, truck operations were discontinued in 1954 and bus operations began. The existing trucks were converted for passenger transport, in 1955 a Fleischer touring coach was put into operation, followed by three Ikarus 55s and an Ikarus luxury coach.

Since 1970 the company has also operated a tire service and a car wash.

In the seventies and eighties the number of buses increased from five to twelve. With the turnaround in 1989/90, the company expanded again, the number of employees increased up to fourfold, the Pietzsch company bought low-floor buses as well as numerous coaches and minibuses. In addition to a modern travel company, Der Niederlausitzer is now primarily a partner company in the Berlin-Brandenburg transport association (VBB), which essentially provides urban transport in Lauchhammer and some regional lines in the Oberspreewald-Lausitz district .

The bus operator Günther Pietzsch, honorary citizen of the community of Schipkau, died on October 20, 2010 at the age of 85.

On November 8, 2010, the Cottbus District Court ordered the preliminary insolvency administration to secure the estate. The insolvency administrator, attorney Christoph Junker from Dresden, continued the business operations of the bus company on his own and negotiated with potential buyers in order to secure the future of the company and the jobs. On February 7, 2011, Christoph Junker and K & K Touristik GmbH from Sonnewalde signed an agreement to take over part of the operating and office equipment and the vehicle fleet, including the name "Der Niederlausitzer".

K & K Touristik GmbH, as the new owner of the former travel service Günther Pietzsch “Der Niederlausitzer”, opened a travel agency on March 1st, 2011 in Schipkau. The family business from Sonnewalde has been offering day trips as well as multi-day trips to destinations in Europe since 1989. With the acquisition of the bus tourism division from Günther Pietzsch's estate, it was possible to expand the company's own tourism offering and secure jobs in Schipkau. Klaus Prietzel, the mayor of Schipkau, conveyed congratulations from the community on the occasion of the reopening.
