The publisher “Der Standpunkt” based in Bolzano was given as the owner. Initially, the publisher and responsible director was Hans Fuchs from Merano. The printing was done by SETA in Bolzano. From July 1951 to July 1954, Christoph Hartung von Hartungen was responsible for the content. Then the magazine was published by Irma Leveghi. The position was discontinued with the last edition on December 27, 1957 because of a fundamental reorganization of the publisher.

Content orientation

The editorial office was based in Meran, first at Sandplatz 2 and later at Katharinenstrasse. 20th

Important journalists such as Horst Rüdiger , August Buck and Otto F. Beer , who headed the magazine's culture department for several years, wrote for the standpoint . The content of the weekly newspaper was explained in the first edition:

“We want to report on the world and its course, but we want to do it with the awareness that we all [...] have an obligation: the obligation to find a spiritual point of view, never to lose sight of it and ours from it Create a high goal. We are committed to western culture. We want to help turn a vague concept into a concrete reality, and know that after the catastrophe of the spirit that has afflicted Europe and the world, the occidental building has to be rebuilt almost from scratch - according to the plans and with the building blocks that we owe to tradition, but for the needs of a transformed society. […] It is no coincidence that this newspaper is based in the South Tyrolean region. [...] Here in South Tyrol there is a seam between two peoples who have contributed most to the fact that the concept of the Occident and an occidental culture could arise [...]. "

Accusation of pro-Italian propaganda

The weekly newspaper was accused of wanting to establish an Italian-friendly press in South Tyrol from ethnic circles aiming to unite South Tyrol with Austria. Corresponding journalistic attacks were carried out in particular by the Innsbruck weekly newspaper Voice Tyrol . The journalist Louis Barcata, who previously worked as a correspondent for the Transcontinental Press news agency and the National Socialist weekly Das Reich under Joseph Goebbels , threatened to publish documents in the dispute with the publisher Hans Fuchs that were supposed to prove a close relationship with the Italian government. He was dismissed from the editorial office of Standpunkt .
