The Marco Polo Stone is a 26-part Italian television series for children and young people set in Venice . Directed by Aldo Lado . The first broadcast on German television started on January 23, 1986 on ZDF . The German subtitle of the series is: "Adventure in Venice". The series was produced by Rai Uno .

action

The siblings Marta, Adi, Malcolm, Gianni and their best friend Valerio live in the Italian lagoon city of Venice. They prefer to roam the historic St. Mark's Square (Italian: Piazza San Marco ) and get into adventurous situations again and again. Since they are still children and the world is fraught with danger, they understand that they are only strong as a unit and must stick together. They keep their greatest treasure with their mutual friend, their grandfather Valerios, whom they call Capitano. It is a blue stone, which they have given the name "Stone of Marco Polo ". This stone is a sanctuary for the children, because whenever someone from the group is in need or another adventure is to exist, they take an oath on this stone. According to the motto “ One on the Campo, all on the Campo. One in the lagoon , all in the lagoon “they invoke their community and draw strength for their deeds.

All sorts of things happen; sometimes they save a dog, which they later name Cuba and which stays with them from now on, or they help the Capitano when he is about to be deported to an old people's home . Adi, the youngest of the siblings, often causes unrest. In one episode, the rest of the family believe he has been kidnapped, but in truth Adi makes himself available as a tour guide for a Japanese tourist.

The series deals with its own topic in each episode and concludes this - so the episodes do not build on one another. In addition to the entertainment, some background knowledge should also be imparted, for example about the city of Venice.
