The changeling

The changeling is a fairy tale . It is contained in the Irish fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm at number 7, which they translated in 1825 from Fairy legends and traditions of the South of Ireland by Thomas Crofton Croker .

Marie Scannell, new to Castle Martyr , leaves her baby in her cloak in a corner of the field while tying wheat. After that he has shrunk and screams. On the advice of a wise woman, she feeds him little, hits and whips him. After a week she will have her child back.

According to Grimm: The village of Castle Martyr was previously called Bally Martyr and is located between Cork and Youghal .

A short film of the same name was honored in 2011 at the International Animated Film Festival Stuttgart (ITFS) with the special prize “for humanity in animated film”, which was awarded for the first time this year and selected by a specially composed jury.
