content

Logan MacRae's girlfriend is undercover investigating a serial rapist who disfigured his victims with a knife after the crime. In civilian clothes Jackie Watson Robert "Rob" Macintyre, the famous striker of FC Aberdeen attacked. She can overpower Macintyre, who is quickly at large after his arrest. Since the attack on Watson cannot be linked to the rape and there is no further evidence against Macintyre, Macintyre will not be charged and released. As the rapist continues to mischief and wreak havoc on the victims from crime to crime, Watson monitors Macintyre without an official mandate. She is still convinced of his guilt, although there has been no evidence for a long time. When his girlfriend often spends whole nights without him without comment, Logan suspects an affair until he finds out what she really does at night. When Macintyre is beaten up and hospitalized, Logan suspects a connection between Macintyre's life-threatening injuries and Jackie's nightly surveillance. However, he only has definite certainty when he finds Macintyre's earring in her bedside table.

In the meantime, however, Logan has to go in search of eight-year-old Sean Morrison, who murdered retired Jerry Cochran in broad daylight in a mall. And the case of the initially unknown Jason Fettes, who with life-threatening injuries was filed in front of the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary - a hospital in Aberdeen - and who died shortly afterwards despite medical help, wants to be solved. According to findings from the autopsy, Fettes died of the consequences of “unusual sexual practices”. However, the investigation into this case is very difficult because the BDSM scene to which Fettes belonged is very secretive. Logan gets unexpected help from Constable John Rickards, who comes out as a member of the BDSM scene. When the perpetrator is finally found, she takes Rickards hostage and is shot by a sniper while she threatens Rickards with a knife and performs sexual acts on him .

Reviews

“In Bloodshot, by contrast, MacBride's victims are all adults, and the reader is spared most of the bloody carnage. Though not all. While the autopsy scenes with the victim of a bondage accident are sufficiently squirm-inducing, Watson's brutal beating of Macintyre is far more explicit. "

“In Bloodshot, however, MacBride's victims are all adults and the reader is spared most of the bloody carnage. But not all. While the description of the autopsy of the bondage victim is sufficiently uncomfortable, Watson's brutal beating on Macintyre is much clearer. "
