action

The hero of the book is called Mäxchen Pichelsteiner . His parents come from the village of Pichelstein, where all residents are no more than 51 centimeters tall. But Mäxchen is much smaller at five centimeters and weighs only 60 grams. That's why he sleeps in a matchbox and only manages to eat a tenth of a pineapple cake. Everyone in Pichelstein knows him as the little man . Together with the magician Professor Jokus von Pokus , who took him in when Max's parents were blown from the Eiffel Tower , the two pigeons Minna and Emma and the white rabbit Alba, the little man moves from place to place with the Stilke circus . Jokus practices a number with the little man and the mannequin Waldemar. After the clown has made a mess, the little man steps in to save the performance. The performance becomes the highlight of the performance and great offers follow: The illustrated Life is offering $ 100,000 for Mäxchen's memoir; the American film company Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer is planning a film with the duo; and a match company is asking for a license to put the sign “The little man gives you fire” on its boxes.

But then Mäxchen is kidnapped by Bald Otto and Puddingbernhard , the Kanaille , on behalf of the South American multimillionaire Lopez , and nobody knows where to find him. Jokus is sad and desperate. Not even pink marzipan can comfort him with the fact that the little man will probably help himself. Mäxchen actually succeeds in outsmarting his two kidnappers, and with the help of the police the rascals are arrested.
