Derek Shulman (born February 11, 1947 in Glasgow , Scotland ) is a British musician. He was the front man of the band Gentle Giant .

Life

Shulman was a member of the progressive rock band Gentle Giant with his brothers Phil and Ray between 1970 and 1980 . Like his brothers, Shulman is a multi-instrumentalist, playing the saxophone, recorder, keyboards, bass, drums and Shulberry (a stringed instrument that he constructed himself). Derek Shulman also sang the parts of Kerry Minnear when performing .

After Gentle Giant broke up, Shulman initially worked as Vice President of PolyGram Records , for which he discovered Bon Jovi , among others . He later became President of ATCO Records. Today he has his own label called DRT Entertainment, of which he is also president.
