The Great Elector's Riding March

The cavalry march of the Great Elector Riding March ( Army March  I, 38 (Army March III, 72)) was created in 1892 for the body cuirassier regiment No. 1 in Breslau . It was composed by Kuno von Moltke , city commandant of Berlin and later also wing adjutant of Kaiser Wilhelm II.

As a traditional bearer of the Leib-Kürassier-Regiment, he was the regimental march of the 2nd Panzer Regiment in Eisenach until 1945 .

Due to its solemn character and the impressive solo fanfare in the interlude, the Great Elector's Riding March is a frequent part of military celebrations in the Bundeswehr . He is particularly often chosen for the serenade in the ceremony of the Great Zap . He is also u. a. the tradition march of 2007 dissolved Panzergrenadier battalion  421 in Brandenburg , the 1992-resolution tank battalion  174 from Hamburg-Rahlstedt , the tank battalion 203, the resolved tank battalions 83 and 84 of Luneburg and active Panzerbrigade 21 in Augustendorf .

It was named after the Great Elector Friedrich Wilhelm of Brandenburg .
