There he first played in the youth field and reached the final of the FA Youth Cup with the youth team in 1958 , which was won against the youth of Chelsea after a 1: 5 first leg defeat with a 6: 1 return success. Then he moved up under coach Stan Cullis in the reigning championship team, to defend the title at the end of the season 1958/59 he contributed with three goals in eight games.

Meanwhile a regular player, he again missed a championship medal as runner- up in the 1959/60 season, but succeeded in the final of the FA Cup of the same year after goals by twice successful Norman Deeley and an own goal by Mick McGrath with a 3-0 win over Blackburn Rovers Hornes first official national title win. He had put a goal on Deeley.

However, after Horne had again lost his place in the following season, he moved in March 1961 within the league to Blackpool FC . In 1966 he went back to his home country after 120 games, where he joined the Southern Suburbs .
