Antoinette Deshoulières
Antoinette Deshoulières , née du Ligier de la Garde (born January 1, 1638 in Paris , † February 17, 1694 ) was a French poet and philosopher .
Life
Deshoulières was admitted to the Académie d'Arles in 1689 . This made her the first woman to be accepted into an academy in France. During the troubles of the Fronde , she followed her husband, who had joined Louis II de Bourbon-Condé , to Flanders . After her return she played a major role in French literature under the name Amaryllis . She was also called "the tenth muse" and "French calliope".
Her daughter Antoinette-Thérèse Deshoulières (1662-1718) was also a well-known poet.
