Desnoes & Geddes is a Jamaican brewery based in Kingston. The brewery is known for the Red Stripe beer brand . The company is owned by the Heineken Group.

history

The company was founded in 1918 by Eugene Peter Desnoes and Thomas Hargreaves Geddes. From 1993 to 2015 the company was owned indirectly by Diageo through the Swedish Udiam Holdings AB . The parent company Diageo decided in 2011 not to export the Red Stripe beer to the USA anymore , but to have it produced locally. The City Brewing Company is the contract brewer . In 2015 the Diageo brewery was sold to the Dutch brewery group Heineken. The delisting of the securities from the Jamaican Stock Exchange began in March 2016 .
