The City Brewing Company is an American brewery based in La Crosse. It acts primarily as a contract brewery for a number of beverage companies.

history

After the economic decline and sale of G. Heileman Brewing Company in 1999, its new owners ( Pabst and Miller ) decided to sell the historic Heileman Brewery production facility in La Crosse to a group of investors. In the same year they founded the City Brewing Company. The name is based on the founding name of the Heileman brewery. When the company was founded, the production of the “La Crosse Lager” beer brand began.

The City Brewing Company increased its production volume by acquiring other brewery locations. In 2006 City bought the now vacant Latrobe Brewery after Anheuser-Busch moved production of Rolling Rock from Latrobe to New Jersey . From April 2007 to November 2008, beer for the Boston Beer Company was produced here under license. Iron City Brewing has been producing beer since May 2009 . In addition, there were a number of products from the Lion Brewing Company in July 2009 and the Stoney's brand from the Jones Brewing Company . The production volume of the Red Stripe beer brand for the US market has been produced in Latrobe since 2012 . City Brewery has been brewing Dixie Brewery beers at its Memphis location since 2017 .

In addition to the Lacrosse and Latrobe locations, the City Brewing Company also operates a plant in Memphis .
