Dessent Ridge is a towering and icy mountain ridge in East Antarctic Victoria Land . It is located 8 km east of Mount Murchison in the Mountaineer Range .
The United States Geological Survey mapped it based on its own surveys and with the help of aerial photographs by the United States Navy between 1960 and 1964. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1969 after Joseph E. Dessent, a meteorologist at Hallett Station in 1961.
