Detlev Pilger (born April 29, 1955 in Koblenz ) is a German teacher and politician of the SPD . He has been a member of the German Bundestag since October 22, 2013 .

Life and work

Pilger attended the St. Kastor primary school and the Overberg secondary school in Koblenz, after which he trained as a retail salesman at the Sporthaus Stadion Koblenz and was employed there. After two years of community service at the nursing home in Koblenz's home for the blind and old people and a number of other activities, including as a warehouse worker and furniture packer, he attended the vocational school and the technical college for social affairs in the Karthaus district . From 1983 to 1987 he studied religious education, followed by a year of recognition as a religious educator and as a pastoral theologian. He was employed in these professions for almost twenty years, from 2007 onwards he was personnel officer in the vicariate general in the diocese of Trier. In 2010 he started teaching at the Julius Wegeler School in Koblenz.

Pilger is the chairman of the local SPD association in the Güls district of Koblenz . He is a member of the Koblenz city council as well as the Güls local council and several committees, advisory boards and bodies.

In the federal elections in 2013 and 2017 he ran for the direct mandate in the constituency of Koblenz and entered the Bundestag via the state list. In the 18th Bundestag he was a full member of the sports committee .

Pilger is married and has one child.
