German-Baltic Society
The German-Baltic Society eV , based in Darmstadt (1950 to 2006: German-Baltic Landsmannschaft in Germany ) is an association of Baltic Germans .
Founded in 1950 to collect compatriots resettled to Germany after the Second World War , the federal state team with its state teams and local groups was particularly dedicated to social tasks. In doing so, she partly continued the tasks of the Aid Committee of the Evangelical Lutheran Baltic Germans in the aid organization of the Evangelical Church in Germany . The tasks included a travel and visiting service for compatriots who often lived scattered around, aid deliveries, care for the elderly, recreational trips for children and pastoral care.
Today contacts to the Baltic states of Estonia and Latvia , cultural, scientific and family history encounters are in the foreground of the work. In the German-Baltic Society , many Baltic-German organizations are represented on the entire board.
