Landsmannschaft der Oberschlesier

The Landsmannschaft der Oberschlesier is an association of expellees founded in 1950 . She is a member of the Federation of Expellees (BdV). From 1953 to the 1960s Otto Ulitz was the spokesman for the Oberschlesier Landsmannschaft . Today Klaus Plaszczek is the federal chairman.
Cooperations
The Landsmannschaft der Oberschlesien, together with the state of North Rhine-Westphalia , which sponsored the Landsmannschaft der Oberschlesier and the Oberschlesier living in the Federal Republic in 1964, founded the "Haus Oberschlesien Foundation" in 1970, which maintains the Oberschlesisches Landesmuseum .
aims
The aim of the Landsmannschaft defines the maintenance of Upper Silesian culture, customs and traditions, the preservation of the German language and culture as a regional characteristic of Upper Silesia, the preservation of the European cultural heritage within the meaning of the EU treaty and the multilingualism in Germany and Upper Silesia, as well as the Support for the German minority in Upper Silesia.

Existence of two Silesian country teams
For historical reasons, there is also a Landsmannschaft Silesia in addition to the Oberschlesier Landsmannschaft . This separation initially referred to the Upper Silesians, who lived in the Polish Silesian Voivodeship until the interwar period .
