The German-French Education Center of the City of Leipzig is an amalgamation of five publicly sponsored educational institutions in Leipzig. history

The establishment of the Franco-German Education Center of the City of Leipzig goes back to an initiative of individuals in 2003. Against the background that various institutions in this city had independently committed themselves to the intensive promotion of the French language and culture, the idea of ​​this to network. Initially, it was about the further development of the already existing courses and the common use of existing potential. The creation of a “Franco-German education campus” was only defined as a long-term goal.

It quickly became clear that the newly emerging construct, in addition to promoting French in Leipzig, could also set new accents in the current education policy debate. Against the background that the emerging network included a daycare center as well as a primary school with an associated after- school care center, a middle or high school and a grammar school, the idea arose to create a continuous educational path from daycare to graduation - without the at to neglect the necessary differentiation and individualization in various parts of the educational biography of the students.

The work on the implementation of the project took place on different levels. A working group consisting (in addition to the leaders) of interested and committed employees from the institutions, parents and friends of the French language met regularly to develop a concept.

The facilities converged on the working level (e.g. first internships for high school students in the day care center, first work meetings on educational content and educational transitions, etc.).

The city of Leipzig, which is responsible for all five institutions, as well as the Saxon Education Agency (Leipzig regional office) were informed about the project and the status of work was communicated.

The education policy spokesman for the parliamentary groups of the Leipzig city council were won over to the project. On their initiative, the council meeting on August 29, 2009 passed a first resolution to create a Franco-German education center in Leipzig. At the same time, plans for the renovation or new construction of the buildings of individual facilities were running.

In November 2009, the city of Leipzig was given a first version of the concept.

On March 30, 2010, the conference of the education center was constituted and the steering committee began its work. In May 2010, the Board of Trustees of the German-French Education Center Leipzig e. V. founded.

In the period from June 2010 to March 2011, the Leipzig City Administration, in close coordination with the institutions involved and the Saxon Education Agency (Leipzig regional office), developed the first final version, which was also a draft resolution for the council meeting. On April 20, 2011, the concept for the Franco-German Education Center was approved by the Leipzig City Council with only one vote against.

Organizational structure and bodies

Working basis

The basis of the work is the "Conception of the German-French Education Center Leipzig", approved by the City Council of Leipzig on April 20, 2011. In the facilities, work is carried out in accordance with the currently valid curriculum and education plans of the Free State of Saxony, partly in modified form .

Educational principles

The core of the Franco-German Education Center is a continuous educational program from day-care center to school leaving certificate (secondary school leaving certificate or high school diploma). There is the possibility of starting the bilingual training at different times: in kindergarten, in elementary school, when entering secondary school, and later if necessary.

The focus of the educational work is the equality of the German and the French language and culture. The work in the day-care center and the after-school care center is based on the immersion method . Cooperation guidelines

The basis of the cooperation between the facilities of the education center is a work plan drawn up jointly for each school year. The guidelines of the cooperation are described in the conception and the cooperation agreement and specified in the work plan. Superficially it's about
