The German-Polish Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK Poland) (Polish Polsko-Niemiecka Izba Przemysłowo-Handlowa , AHK Polska), founded in 1994, is the largest bilateral chamber in Poland with over 970 member companies. The AHK Poland is one of the 83 German Chambers of Commerce Abroad (AHK), recognized by the so-called German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (DIHK) and the Polish National Chamber of Commerce (Polish Krajowa Izba Gospodarcza , KIG). The basis of the establishment of this binational chamber is the "Joint Declaration" by the German Chancellor Helmut Kohl and the Polish Prime Minister Tadeusz Mazowiecki of November 14, 1989. The first regional office of the Chamber of Commerce in Katowice opened on March 1, 2005. Katarzyna Siwek became the head of the office.

In the summer of 2005, the AHK Poland successfully underwent individual certification according to ISO 9001: 2000. In the summer, the Chamber celebrated its tenth anniversary in the Warsaw Royal Palace in the presence of Federal President Horst Köhler . Lars Bosse became the official representative of the Free State of Bavaria in Poland on July 1, 2006 in his role as Managing Director of the Chamber of Commerce. On 14 September 2006, the second regional office of the AHK was Poland in Wroclaw Polish. Wrocław opened, head of the office was Iwona Makowiecka. After one term of office and three terms on the board, Wojciech Kostrzewa (first Commerzbank Polska, then ITI SA) was replaced as president of AHK Poland by Burghardt Bruhn (Bayer Polska) on April 25, 2007 in accordance with the statutes. On January 1st, 2008 the AHK Poland was commissioned to represent the German Wine Institute in Poland. At the same time she was named as the representative of Invest-In-Germany (predecessor of "German Trade and Invest") for Poland.

The Katowice regional office moved to Gliwice on December 1st, 2008 , Katarzyna Siwek remained the head of the office. On December 31, 2009 the representation of the Association of Industrial Research Institutes (AiF) in Poland was dissolved. AHK Poland took over the representation of the " German National Tourist Board " in Poland on January 1st, 2010. In April 2010, Piotr M. Sliwicki succeeded the non-candidate Burghardt Bruhn, who retired. When he stepped down from the Board of Directors in accordance with the Articles of Association in 2013, Piotr Śliwicki was appointed (second) Honorary President. His successor is Peter Baudrexl from Siemens. Michael Kern - previously AHK Slovakia in Pressburg / Bratislava - became the new general manager and executive board member for Lars Bosse, who is returning to Germany, on November 15, 2010 .

The chamber has developed various media of its own. This includes two free monthly newsletters (economic and legal-tax) as well as the bi-monthly publication “Wi - Wirtschaftsnachrichten”. The media currently report on the projects and events in the chamber and offer advertising opportunities for member and non-member companies.
