The German National Tourist Board (DZT) is an association that markets Germany as a destination on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy . The registered association with its headquarters in Frankfurt am Main was founded on May 25, 1948 by the German Tourism Association. The organization is financially supported to 75% by the BMWi , based on a resolution of the German Bundestag . A quarter is financed by own income. Since March 2018, crypto currencies such as Bitcoin have also been accepted as a means of payment .
Between 1999 and 2011 (decision of the Conference of Economics Ministers on June 17-18, 2010), the association also promoted short trips to German regions in Germany.
