The German National Tourist Board (DZT) is an association that markets Germany as a destination on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy . The registered association with its headquarters in Frankfurt am Main was founded on May 25, 1948 by the German Tourism Association. The organization is financially supported to 75% by the BMWi , based on a resolution of the German Bundestag . A quarter is financed by own income. Since March 2018, crypto currencies such as Bitcoin have also been accepted as a means of payment .

Between 1999 and 2011 (decision of the Conference of Economics Ministers on June 17-18, 2010), the association also promoted short trips to German regions in Germany.

Distribution channels

The GNTB is organized in six GNTB regional managements abroad :

The association maintains 31 foreign representations and sales agencies. In addition to 12 own agencies, the sales network abroad includes 19 partner agencies.

The association also advertises at international leading and regional trade fairs. With the Germany Travel Mart (GTM), it offers service providers and marketing cooperations an annual sales event. In workshops and presentations, the GNTB is making acquisitions in the international travel industry around the world. With the help of study trips, it informs international travel experts and media representatives about Germany as a travel destination, and foreign travel agencies receive information from the DZT on current offers and programs in Germany tourism.

The association develops strategies to maintain and expand Germany's positive image as a travel destination abroad. It is also intended to promote tourism to Germany.

The goals of the association's work are to increase the volume of travel in Germany, position Germany as a diverse and attractive travel destination, strengthen Germany as a business location and increase foreign exchange income.

Both leisure tourism (holidays / vacation) and business tourism (trade fair, congress and incentive trips ) are advertised.

Marketing issues

In its activities, the association orients itself towards the travel trends of culture and health . He is promoting so-called city and cultural tourism as well as recreational and health tourism.
