The German Travel Association e. V. (DRV) was founded on August 10, 1950 in Frankfurt am Main as the German Travel Agency Association .

tasks and goals

The association is the leading representation of the German travel industry. He represents their interests on a political level and in public at home and abroad. He represents the tour operators and travel agencies of all organizational forms and sizes as well as the tourism service providers (providers of individual services in the travel industry) and service providers vis-à-vis politics and business. The member companies generate around 90 percent of the turnover in the German tourism industry.

  • DRV Service GmbH: DRV Service GmbH is a subsidiary of the German Travel Association and a service company for the entire travel industry. Its range of services is aimed at German and international companies and includes the implementation of seminars, brokerage of business start-up advice, the implementation of marketing campaigns and promotions, the organization of meetings, congresses and the sale of the Travel Industry Card.
  • DRV collective bargaining association: It is responsible for safeguarding employers' interests vis-à-vis the ver.di service union . Members of the DRV are not obliged to join the collective bargaining community. The Association of Hessian Entrepreneurs' Associations (VhU) forms the management of the DRV collective bargaining association.
  • The Talent Academy is a platform for promoting young tourism professionals. It offers the opportunity to network and exchange ideas with the industry and politics. Three formats represent different career levels: Young Talents, Young Specialists and Young Managers.

Within the industry association, the individual interest groups are grouped into a total of five pillars and the group of supporting members. This includes:

Association Board

The DRV is headed by a seven-person presidium and another ten board members. The Presidium consists of DRV President Norbert Fiebig, CFO Dr. Ute Dallmeier as well as the five vice-presidents of pillars A to E. Campaigns

Training offensive

The DRV is committed to promoting young professionals in the travel industry. The aim of the industry-wide training offensive is to increase the number of trainees as tourism clerks. Information and tips about the possibilities for training qualified young people, information about starting a career in the travel industry and a job exchange with current advertisements from companies in the tourism industry are used for this purpose.

EcoTrophea

The international DRV EcoTrophea award recognizes innovative and exemplary sustainability projects in the tourism industry. It has been awarded annually by the DRV since 1987. The award is given to individuals, groups, organizations, companies or municipalities who have made an effective, exemplary and innovative contribution to environmentally and / or socially compatible tourism as defined by the association.

  • 2006: RK Somadasa de Silva, owner and manager of the International Diving School in Hikkaduwa, Sri Lanka, for the reintroduction of corals off the coast of the tourist resorts of Hikkaduwa and Polhena .

DRV help without borders

The DRV Hilfe ohne Grenzen eV association was founded on October 24, 2002 in Dubrovnik . Its purpose is to support people in distress due to natural disasters, terror or acts of war, primarily by providing means of transport for the tourism industry. This goal is to be achieved through the coordination and support of aid measures, cooperation with other non-profit aid organizations and the collection and distribution of monetary and material donations. This also includes the use of transport capacities on land, water and in the air. The association's activities are free of charge. The seat of the association is Berlin. The association was entered on March 31, 2003 in the register of associations at the Berlin-Charlottenburg District Court , No. 22402 Nz.
