history

The German Medical Insurance was founded in Berlin in 1881 as the "Central Aid Fund for Germany's Doctors". Robert Koch , who later won the Nobel Prize, was one of the founding fathers .

The cooperation with the medical associations began in 1925. The members of the chambers were offered insurance contracts (group contracts) at special doctor-specific conditions. In 1928 the company gave itself its current name "Deutsche Ärzteversicherung". A portfolio transfer agreement was signed with Colonia Lebensversicherung AG in 1955. The German medical insurance was run as a branch in Berlin. The advisory board began its work in the same year.

In 1964, the German Medical Insurance Association signed the first referral contract with a medical professional association. Two years later, the Deutsche Ärzteversicherung decided to contractually work with the professional pension funds.

The Deutsche Ärzteversicherung Allgemeine Versicherungs-AG for physician-specific property insurance was founded in 1987. Today it is run as a branch of AXA Insurance. In 1996, the German medical insurance company was made legally independent in the life and pension insurance as an independent subsidiary in the form of a stock corporation in the AXA Group. Deutsche Ärzteversicherung Vermittlungs- und Finanzberatungs-AG was founded in 1991 for the exclusive brokerage of its own insurance and financial products, and in 2002 it was renamed Deutsche Ärzte Finanz Consulting and Vermittlungs-AG.

Since 1997, the German Medical Insurance has been cooperating nationwide and with the Deutsche Apotheker- und Ärztebank .

In 2002, a cooperation agreement on company pension schemes for health professions was signed with the medical / dental collective bargaining partners (AAA / AAZ and the Association of Medical Professions) under the heading “Health Pension”. Together with twelve regional medical associations, the German Medical Insurance Association launched MedProtect, the framework agreement for professional liability insurance , on the market in 2003 . With the transfer of DBV-Winterthur to the AXA Group, Deutsche Ärzteversicherung became the market leader in the field of academic health professions in 2007.

In 2008 she developed together with the German Dental Association DentProtect, the framework agreement on professional indemnity insurance for dentists. In the same year, the German Medical Insurance Association joined the KlinikRente consortium .

Deutsche Ärzteversicherung is the founder of the " Hufeland Prize ", which was first advertised in 1959.
