German Workers' Hall (Hanover)

The German Workers' Hall , subtitled weekly for the working and non-possessory classes, edited by Ludwig Stechan, was a magazine published in 1851 at the time of the Kingdom of Hanover . In terms of content , she propagated a socialism that, in addition to elements of Marxism, also contained bourgeois , democratic and cooperative ideas.

The weekly published by “ Verlag Pockwitz ” was initially published by the master carpenter, district chairman and “ protagonist of the early Hanoverian workers' movement Ludwig Stechan ”, who was also the editor in charge, and after his arrest on June 7, 1851 by Adolf Mensching .

The magazine appeared a total of 26 times and had around 270 subscribers; From April 1st until it was banned in early June 1851, it was mainly distributed in the Kingdom of Hanover, then, under Mensching, with the last three editions, mainly in the Kingdom of Prussia .
