The German Society for Chirotherapy and Osteopathy eV (DGCO) with headquarters and offices in Munich is a scientific medical society.

With around 900 medical members, it is the purely medical specialist society for chiropractic therapy and osteopathy in Germany with the largest number of members . Its aim is to promote science in the field of manual therapy forms of chiropractic therapy and osteopathy, the organization of conferences and congresses and the training, further education and training of its members. The chairman of the DGCO is Dietmar Daichendt , a doctor from Munich . The DGCO maintains scientific medical cooperation with the European Register of Osteopathic Physicians eV (EROP) and its affiliated professional associations, as well as the Central Association of Doctors for Naturopathic Treatment eV (ZAEN).

history

The society was founded in 1998 in Stuttgart as the German Society for Chirotherapy (DGCh). In 2006 osteopathy was included in the statutes, the company headquarters relocated to Munich and the company name was changed to DGCO. In the course of this restructuring, more than 180 members resigned after being asked to do so by a resigned board member and founded the "German Society for Manual Therapy eV" (DGMT). After three years of legal proceedings, the DGMT and its 180 members were returned to the DGCO in accordance with the Transformation Act . Its membership has been growing again since 2009.
