The German International School Doha (DIS Doha) is a German school abroad founded in October 2008 in Doha , Qatar . The private school is divided into kindergarten, elementary school and secondary level I and II .

Structure and organization

The school has two courses in grades 1 and 2, single in all others and in the 2018/19 school year comprises grades 1 to 12, divided into primary school from the first to the fourth grade, lower secondary school from the fifth to the tenth grade and secondary II from the eleventh up to and including the twelfth grade. At the end of lower secondary level, the intermediate educational qualification is offered. Since the 2016/17 school year, it has been possible at the German International School Doha to obtain a university entrance qualification with the International Baccalaureate (mixed language German / English).

70 percent of the students are of German nationality. Most of the students have previously attended a school in Germany or a German school abroad. The school is run as an all-day school . There are 24 teachers working at the school.

French is taught from the fifth grade. The lessons meet the quota of hours of the Standing Conference and are given in German, the contents are based on the curriculum of the Free State of Thuringia . The subject English is taught because of the special importance right from the first grade of primary school and French from the sixth grade. The foreign languages ​​are only partially taught by native speaking teachers. With regard to the school's Arabic environment, Arabic regional studies and history are also on the curriculum for all students and Islamic studies and Arabic as the mother tongue for Arabic students. The school is in the secondary level of gymnasial (orientation level grades 5 and 6) with internal differentiation between secondary and secondary school students.

The German International School Doha is mainly financed through school fees . In addition, the Central Office for Schools Abroad (ZfA) supports the school sustainably through the salaries of the foreign service teachers and an annual school allowance. There is also sponsorship money from German companies.

Partner schools are: German-Luxemburgish-Schengen-Lyzeum , Perl (Germany) and Tariq Bin Ziyad Independent Secondary School, Doha (Qatar). The school is active in the “Schools: Partners for the Future” initiative .

kindergarten

The kindergarten of the German International School Doha is located in the school building and is attended by up to 80 percent of children of mixed nationalities. The kindergarten includes six year groups of three to five year olds.
