The German International School Jeddah (DISJ) was founded in 1975. The sponsor is the school association "German School Jeddah". It is subject to the supervision of the Federal- State Committee for School Work Abroad (BLASchA), which is a decision-making body of the Central Office for Schools Abroad (ZfA).

The "German International School Jeddah" offers grades 1 to 12 in German and according to the German curriculum. A “German kindergarten” including a preschool is also attached to the school.

history

The German International School Jeddah was built as a private school on part of the “Nada Village Compound” with its own funds. In 1985 the "German School Association Jeddah" was founded as an association with its own legal capacity by the Federal Ministry of the Interior , which is the sponsor of the school. Lessons up to 10th grade are based on the curriculum of the state of Thuringia .

In 2012, and again in 2018, the "German International School Jeddah" received the seal of approval "Excellent German School Abroad".

In 2014 the upper school level was opened.

At the "German International School Jeddah", students can acquire the following school qualifications:

  • Secondary school leaving certificate after grade 9
  • Realschule certificate after grade 10
  • Eligibility to transfer to the upper secondary level after class 10
  • "Mixed Language International Baccalaureate" (GIB)

The certificates are on an equal footing with the certificates of any state school in Germany, as the "German International School Jeddah" is a German school abroad recognized by the Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs in Germany .

The GIB has been recognized as general university access in Germany since 1986 and enables university access in 147 other countries around the world.
