action

God created Adam in the garden of Eden , a human being in his own image, and gave him numerous animals for company. Since Adam feels lonely, God gives him Eve to wife. However, Eve lets herself be seduced by the serpent into eating the fruit of the tree of knowledge, contrary to God's prohibition. Adam too lets himself be seduced by Eve to eat the forbidden fruit. God drives Adam and Eve out of Paradise, whose descendants are now affected by the original sin caused by Adam and Eve .

At the time of the Roman emperor Augustus , the Roman province of Judea awaits the Savior. During this time the Virgin Mary married Joseph of Nazareth . The Archangel Gabriel appears to her and announces that she, who was born without original sin, will give birth to the Savior. Joseph initially doubts whether to take Mary as his wife, who is not pregnant by him, but an angel instructs him in a dream to marry Mary.

On the basis of a census ordered by Augustus, Mary and Joseph travel to Joseph's birthplace Bethlehem , where Mary gives birth to their son Jesus in a stable. Led by the Star of Bethlehem , three shepherds reach the stable and worship the newborn.

Thirty years later, Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist in the Jordan. Jesus heals the sick and preaches about the kingdom of God. He arouses resentment among the high priests and Pharisees because he forgives sins, which only God is allowed to do, and speaks out against animal sacrifices. So the Sanhedrin decides to kill Jesus. Meanwhile, twelve disciples crowd around Jesus. Jesus tells them how the Son of Man will die.

After entering Jerusalem , Jesus drives the money changers out of the temple . Disciple Judas Iscariot leaves the Last Supper that Jesus keeps with his disciples to betray Jesus. Jesus and his disciples gather in the garden of Gethsemane , where Judas betrays Jesus by kissing the emissaries of the high priests. While Jesus is being interrogated, the disciple Simon Peter denies knowing Jesus three times. Jesus is handed over to the Roman governor Pontius Pilate , who initially refuses to have Jesus crucified. The criminal Barabbas is released in Jesus' place , Jesus himself is tortured and finally sentenced to death by Pilate.

After his way of the cross , Jesus reached Golgotha and was crucified there next to two thieves. Jesus is mocked by those present; only one of the two thieves takes him under protection. After three hours of darkness, Jesus dies, after which a thunderstorm sets in. After three days in the tomb , Jesus is resurrected and ascended to heaven .
