German Climate Foundation

The German Climate Foundation is a non-profit foundation under civil law and was founded at the end of 2009 with funds from the Bremerhaven Climate House in Bremerhaven , which was also created in 2009 . Its aim is to present options for sustainable development and climate protection for people of all age groups in a clear and understandable way and to encourage them to adopt climate protection.

To achieve these objects, the German Climate Foundation funding for events and educational projects at home and abroad, initiated events and gives the two own exhibitions called air escape and tightrope walk .

The German Climate Foundation has been recognized by UNESCO as a place of learning in the highest category as part of the UNESCO World Action Program .

Board of Trustees

Members of the Board of Trustees are Max Schön (Chairman), Claudia Kemfert (German Institute for Economic Research), Peter Lemke (Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research, Head of the Department of Climate Science), Joachim Lohse (Senator for Environment, Building and Transport of the Free Hanseatic City Bremen), Jana Steingässer , Maritta Rogalla von Bieberstein Koch-Weser (former general director of IUCN and founder / president of Earth3000) and Jörg Schulz (former mayor of the seaside town of Bremerhaven ).
