German Lighting Technology Society

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The German Lighting Technology Society was founded in 1912 as the "German Lighting Technology Society " in Berlin, where it is still based today. It is a non-profit association that promotes intra- and interdisciplinary exchange on lighting technology issues in the field of tension between science, technology and industry as well as art, design and architecture. It also deals with the implementation of DIN lighting standards.

organization

The German Lighting Technology Society e. V. (LiTG) is set up regionally. It is divided into 15 district groups (BG): Baden, Berlin-Brandenburg, Dresden, Hanover, Hansa, Hesse, Kurpfalz, Leipzig-Halle, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, North Bavaria, Rhineland, Saar, South Bavaria, Thuringia-North Hesse and Württemberg. The Light Technology Society of the Ruhr Area (LTGR) is also the only district association (BV) that belongs to the LiTG.

The LiTG is managed by a board of directors with a maximum of 15 members, including the "Inner Board" made up of the chairman, the vice chairman and the treasurer. The board is elected for a four-year term. The board members work in various committees on topics relevant to the association.

The most important body of the LiTG is the Technical and Scientific Committee (TWA). He advises the board on scientific and technical issues. The TWA is elected in the constituent meeting of the new LiTG board. It is chaired by a chairman and a deputy. The technical work takes place in LiTG committees, which are made up of up to three experts and which cover all areas of lighting technology. There are currently eleven subject areas in the following areas: exterior lighting, melanopic lighting effects, control gear and controls, vehicle lighting, color, interior lighting, light architecture, light sources and lights, measurement and evaluation, physiology and perception, daylight . The task of the TWA is also the initiation and assessment of LiTG publications on the basis of the knowledge acquired in the specialist areas and, above all, the technical design of LiTG conferences.

One of the central tasks of the German Lighting Technology Society is the promotion of theory-practice transfer in all lighting-related issues. At the regional level, this is done through lectures, visits and excursions. Various district groups also take part in regional trade fairs such as "Belektro" in Berlin, "Efa" and "Mutec" in Leipzig or "Elektrotechnik" in Dortmund.

At the national level, the LiTG organizes the symposium »Light and Joy of Life (LiLe)« on various issues relating to interior lighting and the symposium »Urban and Outdoor Lighting (AUBE)« every two years.

Since 1972, the LiTG, together with the lighting technology companies of the Netherlands (NSVV), Austria (LTG) and Switzerland (SLG), has held the international specialist conference »Light« every two years. The "Light 2016" took place with around 480 participants from eleven countries at KIT in Karlsruhe, the "Light 2018" organized by the SLG in Davos. The conference has scientific and practical lighting technology and lighting design content.

In the International Lighting Commission (CIE), the German Lighting Technology Society represents German interests within the framework of the German National Committee (DNK). This is an interdisciplinary forum for the discussion of all lighting technology issues at the interfaces of lighting technology research and development, electrical and lighting technology , light art , lighting design , lighting architecture and architecture . In an international exchange, photometric measuring methods, technical reports and ISO standards are developed that are specified for European (CEN) and national (DIN) applications.

The German Lighting Technology Society is part of an international cooperation network of lighting technology companies in Europe. Every four years, international conferences are held in a different member state to promote European exchange. In 2013 “Lux Europa” took place in Krakow, Poland. “Lux Europa 2017” goes to Ljubljana, Slovenia.

Research and training

The German Lighting Technology Society promotes the exchange between industry, lighting technicians, electrical and lighting planners , lighting designers and universities on lighting technology and lighting design issues.

As a cooperation project, the LiTG has been developing the European educational standard "European Lighting Expert (ELE)" since 2015, together with the lighting technology companies from the Netherlands (NSVV), Austria (LTG) and Switzerland (SLG), in order to achieve comparable qualifications in Establish the area of light and lighting planning in the participating countries. The ELE title is awarded to anyone who successfully passes a multi-part examination in front of a national examination committee from one of the participating countries. The graduate can then be entered in the ELE register. In order to guarantee the quality standard, the European Lighting Expert Association (ELEA) was founded in 2016 as an association under Swiss law, which also maintains the ELE register.

To prepare for the exam, but also to impart detailed knowledge of lighting technology, the LiTG developed its advanced training and examination program "Certified Light Expert (LiTG)" from a total of ten two-day seminars. In addition to two basic modules, there are four seminars each specially tailored to indoor and outdoor lighting, all of which contain a large number of practical exercises. Passing the "Geprüfte Lichtexperten (LiTG)" test enables registration as a European Lighting Expert. Going through the training program is not a prerequisite for registering for the exam.

The LiTG is one of a total of 15 project partners from seven countries in the European research project "Dynamic Light". The main task of the LiTG in the project, which runs from June 1, 2016 to May 31, 2019, is to develop proposals for a meaningful integration of adaptive (LED) lighting into the European street lighting standard EN 13201 and to use a manual and to inform a symposium.

Award

On March 22, 1979, the LiTG board of directors founded the H. J. Helwig Prize to promote the next generation of lighting technology professionals. The prize, which is now endowed with at least € 1000, is awarded every two years to young professionals from universities, technical colleges or technical schools who are still in training or have not been in professional life for more than five years. The award is named after the physicist Hans-Joachim Helwig (1905–1971), who made a special contribution to promoting young scientists. From 1953 Helwig was full professor for the field of lighting technology at the Technical University of Berlin and in 1963 and 1964 chairman of the LiTG. The prize was first awarded in 1980. The five-person H. J. Helwig Prize Committee, made up of two representatives each from the lighting industry and the universities and one representative from an authority, decides on the award winners. The award ceremony takes place at the general meeting of the association as part of the international specialist conference »Light«.
