The group Deutsche Patrioten is a German right-wing rock band from Magdeburg .

Band history

The band was founded in 1990 as Doitsche Patrioten by Sven K. and Ulf. Belonging to the skinhead scene and claiming Oi! -Playing music was derived from the widespread exchange of the letters eu for oi at the time .

Despite the early founding date for an East German band in this field, musical work was not started until 1993, after the line-up had been completed. A year later, two demo recordings appeared , which made the band known in the scene. The second demo was indicated by the BPjM in 1994 because the texts convey a “distorted [and] ideologized picture of National Socialism”, contain “hostile tendencies towards foreigners and other minorities” and call for a kind of national “resistance”. The band was also listed in the annual report of the Office for the Protection of the Constitution .

The debut album The First Prank was released in 1995, the following year a compilation of the two demo cassettes on CD - both released by Blood-and-Honor- related companies such as the Danish label NS Records . The band was now popular on the scene - by 1998 they had around 40 appearances, including concerts with power amplifiers , Spree squadrons and Kraftschlag . The debut album was meanwhile confiscated by a ruling by the Oldenburg District Court in November 1997.

During this period - from around 1992 to 1998 - the band belonged to the 50 people core of the right-wing extremist Magdeburg scene, which occupied the city's youth clubs during this time. The German Patriots themselves had their rehearsal room in a church youth center until the end of 1997. The educational youth projects, which were supposed to dissolve the right-wing scene during this time, did not produce the desired success and even ensured that right-wing extremist structures could be built. In retrospect, critics spoke of “balding at the expense of the state”.

In 1998, after the band name had been officially changed to Deutsche Patrioten the year before , the album Resistance prohibited! . It mainly contained old recordings from the previously indexed phonograms. After this release, the group was inactive for several years, until 2003, surprisingly, a kind of "comeback album" was released. But even after this "new beginning" it became quiet again for the band. The fact that the group is still considered active today is shown by the announced participation in a “Saxony-Anhalt Sampler ”, which was supposed to be produced by Enrico Marx . However, since this was banned from working in this area at the beginning of 2008, the CD was not released.
