Spreegeschwader was a right-wing rock band from Berlin . It was one of the "most important bands of the right-wing extremist music scene from Berlin".

Band history

The band was founded in 1994 by Alexander Gast and Alexander-Willibald Bahls. After several attempts to form a permanent cast, the group initially consisted of only two men. After the first small appearance at a New Year's Eve party, the first demo was recorded in 1995. The first public appearance took place at an anniversary event of the Hammerskins Section Berlin. Several appearances with u. a. Power Strike and Chaos Warriors followed.

The contact to Hanse Records was established through Brandy von Endstufe and the first CD Eisern Berlin was recorded, which was released in the summer of 1996. A mini CD followed in the same year.

In 1996, Rico Sonnenburg, a permanent bassist, joined, and a guitarist followed as reinforcement. In 1997, the band released some sampler contributions on relevant right-wing rock compilations. In 1998 the second album Orientexpress was released . In the same year a split CD with the Swedish band Storm followed. The new guitarist had quit in advance, after the release a replacement was found in Motte.

In 2000 the split album was indexed with Storm . In 2002 the Spreegeschwader wanted to play a live concert in Hungary, the responsible state criminal investigation office wanted to prevent this with the help of a travel ban.

After a legal dispute with their old record company, a best of was released in 2001 with newly recorded songs. A live album followed in 2002. In 2003 the album Gefangen im System was released , which was indexed in 2004.

In 2004, the live album was indexed because it was a risk to young people. In 2004 the band filed a lawsuit against the Berlin residents' registration office. A concert followed on June 5, 2004, which was disbanded by a special police force. House searches and further indexing followed.

In 2004 the anniversary album One Decade and another best-of with the title The First Years were released . Indexing of the two sound carriers was rejected by the BPjM . The band had previously filed a lawsuit against their treatment by the BPjM and had come to the hearing with legal support. On April 2, 2005 a concert by the Spreegeschwader took place, at which the English RAC bands English Rose and White Law performed. The main attraction of the evening was " Hunters And ", and the last appearance of the former soldiers -Sängers Michael Regener before his detention. Several members of the Spreegeschwader, who are also the official cast of The Lunikoff Conspiracy , attended the performance.

On September 10, 2007, a constitutional complaint by Alexander Gast regarding the indexing of the audio carrier Live 2002 was not upheld. The Federal Constitutional Court thus confirmed the indexing of the sound carrier.

In addition to the Spreegeschwader, Alexander Gast also ran his solo project Spreegeschwader Solo - Spirit of 88 , which has so far released three albums. The guest was also the operator of Joe Hawkins mail order and the shop "On the Streets" in Hennigsdorf , which, in addition to the band's merchandise , sells various national and international Hatecore , right-wing rock and skinhead bands. Since autumn 2019 he has been the guitarist of the more moderate German rock band WUTBÜRGER.

Alexander Bahls was the operator of the neo-Nazi trendy shop “Parzifal” in Berlin-Oberschöneweide until it was closed in August 2006 . On October 5, 2006, he was involved in the attack on Philip Schlaffer from Wismar, the owner of the "Werwolfshop" and operator of the "Hatestore" shipping company. He and two other accomplices are said to have threatened and blackmailed Schlaffer with a manslaughter and an ax. The background was a dispute over the marketing of merchandising articles of the "Lunikoff conspiracy" around Michael Regener. Schlaffer was accused of having only done business with Bahls in order to come into contact with Michael Regener (together with Ingo Knauf from the V7-Versand, Schlaffer owned the "Parzival"). Bahls was sentenced to three years' imprisonment in a circumstantial trial, in which even the public prosecutor moved away from the actual indictment and demanded a suspended sentence. This he sat z. T. together with Michael Regener in the JVA Berlin-Tegel . Furthermore, in 2009 Alexander Bahls had to answer before the Berlin Regional Court in the proceedings against the band “ Deutsch, Stolz, Treue ” (DST) for incitement to hatred. In the summer of 2009, Bahls was released from prison.

In August 2009 the group disbanded due to internal differences.

In 2015 it became known within the comradeship that Alexander Gast was in a coma after being resuscitated, and according to his own statements he had to relearn everything.

In 2017, after the breakup in 2009, a new album was released, the only remaining member is the front man and current guitarist Alexander Gast.

ideology

Ideologically, the band was initially close to the Hammerskin and Blood and Honor movements, but for a number of years they have appeared repeatedly at NPD events . The band has a close relationship with the militant part of the neo- Nazi scene through their membership in the neo-Nazi rocker group " Vandalen - Ariogermanische Kampfgemeinschaft ".

The texts by Spreegeschwader deal with excessive national pride, open racism and conspiracy theories . References to National Socialism can also be found, especially on the early phonograms. The later texts no longer contain any direct references, but are deliberately kept open to allow such an interpretation.
